For
beginners, this window might seem like the most complicated, but the programmers
of 1800freeshop have made this much easier than it looks.
Before
you take a look at this window, we strongly suggest that you read our paragraph
on CGI-Servers. Once you have set up a CGI-site, you can set up the server
details in this window.
If
you are registered with a free CGI-Server, you DO NOT need to change the entries
in the first two lines. (The fields in which you don’t have to change anything
are “Path CGI directory”, “Perl full path” and “Mailer full-path”.
The
next field is “Domain (without www.). Here you enter the exact address of your
page without www. For
example: If your page is http://www.mycgiserver.com/~1800freeshop then you
should enter mycgiserver.com/~1800freeshop .
In
the field “FTP upload server
name” you enter the following if
you have a page with www.mcgiserver.com. Enter ftp.mycgiserver.com
In
the field “FTP upload directory (full path) all you have to enter (if you are
with mycgiserver.com) is a / and nothing more.
If
you do have a CGI account with anybody else than mycgiserver.com then enter your
root FTP address. For more help on that please contact your CGI-server.
The
last line of field is FTP Account and FTP password: If you are using
myCGIserver, you will receive your password by e-mail. The check box “not
saved” means that the password will NOT be saved on
your PC.
The
“Storage” window is the place where you can check, save and reload your
data. The last button will restore the default values in your 1800freeshop.
The “Check” button helps you to make sure that you have not forgotten
to enter any crucial or important data.
A CGI-Server is a server which enables CGI-scripts. Most eShops, like the 1800freeshop need such a script to run. We highly recommend that you set up a FREE account with www.mycgiserver.com for the use of your 1800freeshop. It will take you approximately 5-10 minutes to set up your own account with www.mycgiserver.com . For more information about CGI-Servers and Internet Service Providers for eCommerce, please consult
Last,
but not least please note the following:
The
1800freeshop is the first FREE eShop world-wide which can be used by internet
users over the PC and WAP-users over an internet-capable mobile.
If you would like to test your WAP eShop you can use the ccWAP browser free of charge at
Imagine every customer of your store to be able to check out your WAP eShop right from your homepage without a WAP–compatible device! If you take advantage of the free integration of the ccWAP browser, you can make this happen. The browser can also be personalized and intergrated on your homepage. This means you can set your WAP eShop as the starting page on the ccWAP browser AND integrate your own ad banner with it. The customer will then visit your page and can test your WAP eShop over your personalized ccWAP browser. In addition the customer can also visit any other WAP pages right on your homepage. If you would like to create other WAP pages you can use the ccWAP Page Editor at
www.ccwap.com
. All these services are FREE.
CAUTION:
The WAP eShop should be tested in any case with a regular WAP-compatible device,
such as a WAP mobile. The ccWAP browser might display the content slightly
different from regular WAP devices.
Keep
in mind, experts predict over one BILLION WAP-mobile users by 2002 ! Let your
eShop be one of the few which can be accessed over the internet and over the
Wireless Web (a.k.a WAP) !

Q: Is there no possibility to have different shipping costs for each product ?
A: As of right now, this feature is not integrated in the 1800freeshop yet.
Q: Is there a limited number of products I can offer over my 1800freeshop ?
A: No, the number of products which you can offer is not limited. You can offer hundreds of products, if you like.
Q: How can my customer order more than one product ?
A: Once your customer has put a product in the Mobile eShop, he/she can press the"back-button" to get back to the product list.
Q: Is there a possibilty for my customer to enter credit card information ?
A: No, there is no possibility for your customer to enter credit card information. The reason for this is that there is no world-wide security standard for mobile phones yet. It would be too dangerous to transfer data this sensitive over a mobile phone.
Q: Why can't I correctly view my 1800freeshop with another WAP-browser (for example: WAPJAG, WAPMAN etc.).
A: Most other browsers, besides the ccWAP Browser, do not support the technical features of the 1800freeshop because they are not programmed for the use on Mobile eShop systems. Mobile phones, however, mostly use the Micro-browser of Phone.com or Nokia. Both of these Micro-browsers will support the Mobile eShop.
